i am getting married in a month and a half how do i finish planning my wedding in that amount of time? I have my dress, cake ordered, flowers ordered, site and reception booked, catering taken cared of, and hair appts booked, and invitations done. My bridesmaids have slacked and not even ordered their dresses yet. Also we haven't picked out our rings yet. HELP!!!!
How do I finish planning my wedding in a rush?
I'm a professional wedding photographer and see brides in this state all the time. Actually, looking over your list you look in pretty good shape.
As for your bride's Maids; if they don't get on the ball then count them out. You have to take the bull by the horns. Tell them now. Be sweet and gentle but completely firm. If they care about your and WANT to be in the ceremony instead of the congregation then set the rules NOW.
Are the tuxes ordered? That wasn't mentioned. Have you hired your photographer yet? I know everyone wants the video but no one really looks at it after the first time or two. Your wedding album will be what you put out at the reception for your 50th anniversary. I don't know what your budget is but try not to skimp on photography. This is the person who is going to help you keep your memories.
A couple of hints about hiring a wedding photographer: Is the date available, will you get everything you've dreamed of in your package for your budget and do you like the photographer? You will be spending the better part of the day with the photographer and if you don't like them it will show. Don't necessarily go with the lowest you find. If it is not in your budget to pay 2K then discuss it with them and see if you can make a deposit and pay balance out over two months after the wedding. You won't get proofs until paid but at least you'll get fabulous pictures. Also, try to find one who gives you an album in the package. Very important.
Reply:A month and a half is plenty of time to act, but there is no more time to slack.
Bridesmaid dresses: Should be bought off the rack and have any alterations done ASAP. I find Asians that do alterations can turn them around found and cheap. You'll need to have the shoes when you get them altered, if you need to have alterations so shoes will need to be bought immediately after the dress.
Rings: If you have access to Asian jewelers, go to them. They have fast turnaround times or even have bands available to purchase without having to order. If you do need to order them, expect at least a month. So this means you need to do this right away.
DJ, Photographer, Band, makeup artists: Book right away to secure your date if you need these services.
Other things to do: Favors, programs, timeline/itinerary for bridal party day of wedding and even prior to, seating arrangements, box for receiving cards, bridal registry (can be done online for most places) name cards for where your guests sit, alterations on your wedding gown.
Reply:Take a breath! I got married just 2 months after He proposed, and everything got done just fine. All you need to do is go to any jewlery store and start trying rings on. Looking online and at catalogues won't tell you how the ring looks on your hands. As for the dresses, my 3 bridesmaids made their dresses in 1 month for a decent price. I can give you the number to the dressmaker they used. All they need to do is buy fabric and have a design. Or you can threaten them to put them in whatever it is you want them to wear.
Reply:If your bridesmaids haven't gotten their dresses yet then that's not your fault anymore. You shouldn't have to stress on that. If they want to look ugly on your wedding - fine by you. You're the only one people will really look at. If it's really bothering you, you need to sit down with your entourage and really stress it out to them that you need help. As far as your rings - where is the groom in all this? you need to get him to take time out to pick out your rings - sounds like you're marrying yourself?
Reply:I don't understand whay you need advice on? You sound like you know what you need to do.
Reply:Girl, it sounds like you have most of it done already! Wedding bands don't take that long, so if you go on a weekend, and find the ones you want, you can order them. Many places allow you to buy out of the case...if it's a chain. It's the sizing that takes a little time. You could call around and ask how long it takes, and if a month isn't enough time, ask if they do a rush job, and what the extra cost is. I doubt that a month isn't enough time, but I'm not totally sure.
Maybe a good way to get your bridesmaids to order their dresses is you plan a "lunch" for all them to go with you, and you go to the store where you want them to order the dresses, and they all order their dress before lunch. (Tell them this ahead of time) That way you can make a day out of it.
As for the rest of it...just ENJOY yourself! It's going to be over before you know it. Congratulations!
Reply:get your bridesmaids together for lunch nearby the place to order the dresses and then sugest afterward that you go and order the dresses together!
And get on the rings, too. some places need to size and soldier rings together and it needs time. Also, if he or you want titanium, you might want to get on that asap.
does the groom have his tux/suit?
other than that, you sound like you just need a massage.
congrats!
Reply:Just take them to department store to pick off the rack dress instant of waiting the order to come. Ring?! U can get it anytime as long as u r not too picky and have enough money.
Reply:you can get the wedding rings the same day in any jewelry store (it takes a few hours to resize them unless it is a detailed ring all the way around then it has to be ordered and it may take weeks) ~ if your bridesmaids do not choose the dress, then you may opt to choose on something they may all agree on and just have them go in to get measured and your job is done. congratulations :)
Reply:You need to get the rings picked out, you'll know when you see it, if that's the one! You need to have some type of meeting with your bridesmaids. The dresses need to be ordered let them know that if they need to be altered this will also take some time, it takes time for the dresses to get shipped, and what if someones size is not available. They will have to wear the dress you picked whether it fit right or not they shouldn't have waited till the last minute! let them know what you expect of them, and why this is important to you! you only have one wedding day and it should be the best day of your life! you pretty much have taken care of the biggest things so now you can push the maids! there is no time, it needs to get done ASAP!
Reply:sounds like you have plenty of time just get your friends on the ball and pick out a ring
