I have a moth orchid plant. After flower died I cut the steam at the second noodle.The steam now has drdied.?

What should I do in order to another steam to come out to get flowers

I have a moth orchid plant. After flower died I cut the steam at the second noodle.The steam now has drdied.?
If you have a healthy phal you can cut back to just above the 1st or 2nd node and it might re-bloom for you, or if your phal isn't in the best shape, best to cut back to the base of the plant. (There's a lot of controversy about cutting all the way back vs not) If it's healthy and gets a cool down this fall for 3 to 4 weeks, it hopefully will produce another spike for you in January or February - unless you have a summer blooming phal! Reply:be patient it will come out new steam ,just keep watering .but next time never ever cut the orchid steam.they can come out another again and again
Reply:Not all phals respond with a secondary spike. We don't bother with this method because it will take energy from growing next year's leaves.



Cut it off all the way, repot in fresh medium. It will produce a new spike after current foliage matures in autumn.
