Is it just me or are you SICK & TIRED of all the bad service EVERYWHERE?

We want our kitchen remoldeled. We went to Home Depot last week and pick out some cabinets, wood floors, sick etc. We fully expect to pay 17k-20k for the job. They were supposed to come out Friday night to measure....some guy called and said we is to do the measurement but his child had a balllgame and asked if he could come Sat., morning...we said sure, he asked for 8 am...we changed our plan to accomidate HIM. It's now 9:15 and nothing...NO CALL, NO nothng!

OH...and we paid UPFRONT $100 for just the measurement. WE are leaving in 30 minutes to HomeDepot to demad our money back.

Ordered flowers for my wife on Feb 10th...I asked for dthem to deliver to her work BEFORE 12 noon...they said NO problem....she got then Feb 15...the DAY AFTER Valentines day...another $225 order screwed up...they won't refund my money.............................yet!!!...

WTH...is going on in America??????

I can't imagine treating customers like this...I would be FIRED if I ever treated some

Is it just me or are you SICK %26amp; TIRED of all the bad service EVERYWHERE?
First, get everything in writing (write it on the form contract if you have too).

Second, when it comes to "quality” the discount super store with the lowest prices is not the place to get it. You need a great carpenter or general contractor. Super stores have their advantages (Free designing, low prices). But hiring the quality person up front is job one. (Ask around next time you see a great kitchen--get the company and demand the same installer).

Third, pay by credit card, check or partial payment and stop payment at the first sign of trouble. There is nothing wrong with billing them the $20+ bank fee, later if things work out. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE FEELING OF HAVING SOME ONE TRACK YOU DOWN ON THEIR TIME, $, AND ASK YOU WHY YOU DID THAT and just unloading. If they want to take you to court and stand in front of a judge, explain why you should pay for bad work, spending their time and $, so be it.

Last, reward quality by tipping when appropriate, telling your friends about a great company, paying your bills and living up to your agreements. Be fair. There is nothing worse than demonstrating superb quality and having to track down people to get the money you rightly earned and they agreed to pay.
Reply:I agree, Customer Service is going to hell in a little rubber boat. My wife will no longer come to big box stores with me anymore, because "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore"

If I get inadequate, poor or ignorant service, I speak right up, usually forcefully. If you don't like your job at Target, tough, not my problem. If I ask you a question, the MINIMALLY acceptable response should be: I'm sorry, do not know, But I will find out right away" God help you if you say I dunno, shrug your shoulders and turn away!

Damn, I feel a little better now.
Reply:you must have called FTD...they promised next day delivery for my 32nd anniversary...no show...called them, and like you no refund...they will get no more calls from me...i feel most people who work with the public now , shouldn't ...there are a few good people out there but they are few and far between...
Reply:Pretty much the same problem here in Britain ,indeed throughout Europe. This slovenly attitude cuts right across the board and is regularly the subject of discussion among myself %26amp; friends. I honestly feel that there is just no" pride in the job" any more.Anyway good luck with your kitchen , I'm sure it will be beautiful when its finished, eventually.
Reply:Unfortunately it seems to be a trend. I would try to network with your friends/co-workers to find a handyman to do the job.

There are a lot of "salvage" places that have brand new cabinets etc. don't let the name fool you, do lots of homework and you can save a bundle.

When you are hiring someone don't EVER pay it all up front (no more than 1/3).

One would think the big places Lowes,H.D. would be more reliable, not the case. Best of luck to you.
Reply:I know what you mean about bad service... It seems to be everywhere...

Basically, what I do when I get bad service is vote with my feet....by walking away and taking my business elsewhere....
Reply:Yep. Get used to it. You will also have to settle for imperfections in the work after it is done. Also they find things during the remodeling that they will charge you extra for.
