Thanks in advance for any advice :)
I have to go out and dig up some flowers I planted last night, I forgot to uncoil the roots..?
unless the plants have been growing in the little containers for a long time there is no need to untangle any roots.
Do you remember at all if when you planted them it looked like the roots were going around in circles around the edge of the pot.
That would be the time to untangle or unwind them.
I doubt though that this is the case as we are pretty much at the beginning of the growing season
It is sometimes recommended when planting new container plants to cut or tear an "x" at the bottom of the root ball or just pretty much disturb the roots as this will encourage quick new root production and help the plant settle in a bit quicker. However it really is not essential and as long as you have planted them well and keep them well watered but not overwatered you really should not have to worry at all.
Plants are really very forgiving.
Reply:Don't dig them up -- they will likely be fine.
Never water your plants in the heat of the day, and try to get the water to the base of the plant intead of over the top.
The best advice? Enjoy your garden! Welcome to the club.
Reply:You could do that, but it's not necessary, so why risk the possibility of more shock? You didn't mention the type of plants, but if they are typical annuals they will do fine.
Reply:I would leave them alone...the roots will now have room to spread and will do it on their own.
