Im doing the flowers for my sister in laws wedding?
Live neer a Costco, then I would get them there.
Sometimes you can get the name of the person who does the ordering and they will get you stuff.
BUT it usually has to be something they normally carry.
Go for basics. Roses, carnations etc.
and basic colors. Then they will be more willing to get them.
I would be careful ordering stuff online because you dont know what the quality is, and god forbid if there late or the orders wrong.
LAt me know if you need more info.
Reply:YOU CAN ALWAY'S SPRAY PAINT THEM
Reply:Dont get them at the grocery store! Thats kinda rude!
Reply:can you special order them from the store? have the store order them for you.
Reply:You're a florist and you get your flowers from a grocery store?!
Reply:Personally I would never risk not having the right flower or the right color, not for something so important as a wedding. A bride wants everything to be perfect, so I would just stay safe and order them. Sure it will be more expensive, but wouldn't you rather spend a little more and ensure that she's happy than save a little money but have her be secretly disappointed?
Reply:First, try going to you local craft store or Wal Mart. You could even try going to the local $1 store, just to see what they have, as far as flowers are concerned. If none of these stores have the colors and types of flowers she wants, just go on line to order them. I'm pretty sure that if you order in bulk, you could save a little bit of money. Plus, I'm pretty sure that the website you use will be able to get you the flowers before the wedding (you may have to pay a little more for a rush order).
Hope this helps!!
Reply:if u can save money by getting them at the grocery store then do that.
i think, (you will know for sure as you are a florist) that if you add food colouring to the water of the flowers, the petals will gradually turn that colour and it doesnt affect the smell or life span of the plant. you cood also add a nutrient solution just to be sure.
Reply:I would think for something as important as a wedding day it would be more sensible to get the correct colour flowers that the bride requests as if they are not right it could mess up her whole colour scheme...If she is not too far ahead with planning her colour scheme and choice of flowers perhaps discuss with her the colour and flower options that are available for the cheaper option..but I am sure she would want her choice of flowers and colour scheme rather then to wing it but if she does want to save money she might want to change the colour scheme and take less expensive option
Reply:Family should never provide wedding services for each other. Yes, you do have a bit of money but you risk your relationship. If you have any friends in the business I would reach out to them to ask if they could offer your sister a courtesy discount. Sometimes you can make an agreement to provide a similar service for this vendor at a future date. If you absolutely have to provide the flowers then do a ton of resarch well in advance to be sure of where you can get the flowers you want. Then go to pick a petal online. They have a bunch of terrific articles on how to make your own wedding bouquets and flowers.
Reply:If you live in a big city like Los Angeles, there is probably a wholesale district that all the florists get their flowers from. You have to get there early, like 5:00am.
Reply:For something as important as a wedding, you should not just “wing it”. Talk to your sister-in-law and see what she thinks, though. I think twoodshair had a great idea – see if you can special order through the grocery store if the cost is really that much less without sacrificing quality.
