It is a small spot on his arm, and he is going to have it removed next month. He will not need chemo or radiation, but I want to get him something to let him know I care. I live several states away so it has to be something I can mail or order online. I don't think he would like flowers or anything too "mushy." Thanks in advance for your help!
My dad just found out he has skin cancer, I want to get him a get well gift. Any ideas?
i think all parents are different. i find the best present for my dad is a card. its not too emotional and its pretty darn cheap too. you can even send hallmark/american greetings email cards for free from their websites. its a simple free way of saying you are thinking about them.
Reply:You can go to a book store and look up a book called "Beating cancer with nutrition". I know it sound premature. My dad had skin cancer on his scalp for 12 years. Each year his oncologist burned it off. I kept telling my dad that cancer cells are all throughout his body. As they are in everybody. Every body gets cancer on average of 7 times in their lifetime. When the immune system is low and the individual is stressed cancer can become fulled fledged. Our immune systems are wonderful and can repair our bodies well into old age. But the north American diet has poisoned our bodies. Anyways, for about 5 years my dad complained of a pain on the side of his back and his doctor kept giving him muscle relaxants. It wasn't until he was peeing blood that the doctor took him seriously. He did a cat scan and my dad had a cancerous tumour the size of an orange. They took his kidney out and told him he was OK. No need for Chemo or radiation. Again I kept telling my dad he needs to eat lots of leafty green vegetables. (he was a meat and potatoe man). One year later he started to cough blood. They found four tumours in his one lung. Two weeks later another cat scan revealed four more tumours in his other lung. Then a biopsy revealed that the cancer in his lung was the same kind as the one that was in his kidney. They gave my dad 6 to 12 weeks to live. It was the most aggressive kind of cancer. They said chemo and radiation would be of no benefit because it was in both lungs. That is when my dad decided to fight with for his life. He survived another 14 months. He would become depressed and not eat for weeks because the stupid, stupid doctor said he shouldn't waste his time. Most of the time though my dad did as we told him. Had he been very diligent he could have beat it. All but one of the tumours had stopped growing. It was the one that suffocated him to death because it was at the top of the lung close to the throat area. His lungs filled with fluid. He suffocated and drowned because of the cancer.
Go to the natural health section in the book store and read, read, read and LEARN. If it was made by man DO NOT EAT it. pop, fast food, processed food, beer and other alcohols are poison. Your dad has just been given the warning signs that his body can't handle the toxins.
Show your dad you care by educating yourself and your family about proper whole food nutrition.
You wouldn't put steering fluid in where your engine oil goes would you? Don't put chemicals into your body that don't belong there.
100 years ago, before processed foods there was virtually no such thing as cancer.
My dad had just turned 65 when he passed away in June 2001. We miss him very much.
Good Luck
Reply:I found out that I had bone marrow cancer 2 years ago. So I say this from experience. Anything that comes from your heart will be great. He just needs to know that his daughter loves him.
Do you have any pictures of you and him when you were younger? If so, get a nice picture frame with something about a special daddy on it. I look at the picture of me and my daughter when she was only a few months old everyday.
Reply:A Hug.
Reply:Get him some Sun-block thoughtful and not to mushy!
Reply:Can you make plans to be together, or have a nice long phone conversation? He would probably appreciate knowing you are there for him more than any gift.
For an actual gift, almost any parent would love a new picture of a son or daughter. If you have one of the two of you, maybe get it framed and send it?
