How do i prep my sunflowers?

i need to know what to do. i want to save some seeds for planting next year and i want to eat some. my flowers are now 10 ft and starting to hang over. the peddles are starting to fall. what are the processes in order for me to do what i want.

How do i prep my sunflowers?
take a fine mesh bag and tie it over the head of one of the sunflowers. This will keep the birds out, yet allow the seeds enough air to "breathe". When they are ready, the seeds will fall into the bag and dry. These are good for seed next year.

You can do the same thing for eating, but when the first seeds start to fall, just rub the other ones out. place on an oiled cookie sheet and bake at 325F for an hour (shaking occasionaly) season as desired.

Don't know how they do it, but the dill pickle flavored seeds that Spitz put out, sure are good.

Good luck.
