I was watching 'Cash in the Attic' on BBC America and heard that chocolate box paintings sell very well. They said chocolate box paintings are pretty paintings with women, children, flowers, and animals in them. They're called chocolate box paintings because they look like the covers of old chocolate boxes. That said, I want to find out what you the consumer would like to see in a painting. I know what I like to paint, but I like to challenge myself from time to time and step out of my comfort zone. In order of most frequency I paint animals, japanese calligraphy, portraits, landscapes, city scapes, and abstract. Most of my paintings are impressionistic. I'm open to your suggestions.
What kind of subject matter in a painting do you like the most?
I love the really detailed art nouveau female portraits, or portraits of mythological or folk tale characters.
Reply:I like your style. I don't think you should change it up for the customer. Yes, I know customers will make you or break you! However, interests change everyday and one day they might be into you.
But if I had to buy a piece of art right now, I think I would buy something that had something inspirational on it or something that mirrors life today. Like something about pop culture or history. I like looking at old photographs that captured random everyday life, because change happens so fast.
Yes...Yes...I know I comment too much on your stuff...but maybe I can get the ball rolling. Okay scratch that thought...the ball has already been rolling. lol..cool feedback is awesome.
Reply:Yeah I just good ideas that one chocolate painting on gurl's body can lick like it that you will say yummy because good taste chocolate like Dairy chocolate or Caramel chocolate! don't challenage! Just have a good fun would like it..........
Reply:Large round hat boxes painted in rich burgundy, greens, gold and deep blue with the theme of flowers in a Victorian style. I paint myself and I enjoy Tole painting and especially Rosemailing with its elegant scrolling and vivid colors. It's probably because I can't draw animals! Lol.
Reply:Anything in pointalism or impressionism - the more faceless the better - gives it an everyman sort of quality.
Reply:i love landscape paintings, cubism paintings, impressionism paintings, abstract paintings
basically all kinds of paintings
Reply:My favorite is fantasy, abstract or surrealism. Anything not ordinary. Imagination is so beautiful.
Reply:I like bright colors and interesting subjects. I hate barn scenes.
Reply:I like paintings with deeper meanings to them. The ones that really make the viewer stop and just think. Like the whole controversy about the Mona Lisa. I mean, what is she really smiling about? Those kind of things are more than just paintings, they're inspirational in a way.
